We work with independent contractor drivers.
PrimeRoutes runs same-day courier routes between cities with drivers who use their own vehicles, starting in the Niagara region, Hamilton and the Greater Toronto Area. You choose your service areas and when you are available. Here is how it works.
How it works
From application to first run
- 01
Create a driver account
Name, contact details and your vehicle. It takes a few minutes.
- 02
Verify
Identity check, licence, insurance, abstract and record check, reviewed by a person.
- 03
Set where and when
Choose your service areas and switch yourself available when you want same-day offers.
- 04
Drive
Run deliveries in the driver app with photo proof at every stop. Earnings statements and direct deposit payouts are in the portal.
Pay
How pay works
The short version of the pay information every driver receives under Ontario's Digital Platform Workers' Rights Act.
- Job fee
- 70% of the job price before tax and tips. You keep 100% of tips.
- Before you accept
- Every offer shows your job fee and estimated total. Declining has no penalty.
- Pay day
- Weekly. The pay period runs Monday to Sunday and you are paid the Friday after, by direct deposit or Interac e-Transfer. No minimum, no fees, no deductions.
- Minimum wage
- For your job time each week, you earn at least Ontario's general minimum wage ($17.95 an hour). If job fees come to less, we pay the difference.
- Statements
- A statement for every job you complete, and a weekly settlement.
Earnings depend on the deliveries booked in your service areas; we do not promise a number of jobs. A person reviews any restriction or removal; ask through Help and Support.
What you need
Checked once, by a person
- Your own vehicle
- Car or sedan, SUV, Minivan, Cargo van, Pickup truck, Cube truck. No commercial vehicle needed.
- An Ontario licence
- Class G, G2 or D, reviewed against our minimums for experience and record.
- Insurance for courier work
- At least $1 million in liability coverage, with a commercial-use endorsement that allows deliveries. Ask your insurer whether courier delivery use is covered; the endorsement is confirmed before approval.
- A driver's abstract and a criminal record check
- Uploaded during onboarding. We do not ask for a vulnerable sector check.
- Identity verification
- A licence and face check through Stripe Identity, done in a few minutes on your phone.
- Eligibility to work in Canada
- And a Social Insurance Number for tax slips, stored encrypted.
